The role of the Supply Chain Manager is to ensure the company products are delivered to the customer at the right price and quality, on time and in full, at the lowest possible cost, with the lowest possible working capital. They will also support and implement strategies set out by business leaders and adjust the supply chain in a timely manner to meet the changes as they arise and in line with best practices. A close liaison with the internal Managers and different departments of the business is essential.

Main duties and responsibilities

H&S:

  • Although the ownership of this area lies with the site lead, the Supply Chain Manager will lead the Safety culture onsite in its respective areas;

General:

  • Support the management team at the site - facilitate and create strong working relationships between site and centralised functions;
  • To be the site lead backup in managing the team, ensuring capabilities and skills are developed and standards are always continuously Improving;
  • Successful Integration of new business won by sales and any required infrastructures, by planning capacity, stock management and cost scenarios;
  • Support in the definition of product and packing specifications;
  • Manage handover and sign off, of new tooling and machinery from the project teams to the Manufacturing team. To plan and implement corrective actions, with an aim to achieve zero stoppages, zero accidents, zero quality problems;
  • Assist in the maintenance, development and implementation, when and where appropriate, of company IT systems relevant to key function areas;
  • Work to continuously improve the performance of the team and processes and fully realise the benefits of ERP systems. To become a CMS ‘superuser’ post implementation at Arklow;
  • When required, to manage customer expectations in an effective and considered manner;
  • Implement and sustain SOP’S, in all key areas to streamline and deliver the service and standards required;
  • Identify opportunities that will benefit the business through improvements in productivity and cost saving initiatives in its respective areas. Constant definition and follow up of improvement plans;
  • To provide information, when necessary and as requested, relating to all projects on site in a formal way;
  • Support Quality with Complaints investigations, in areas of responsibility, to ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions are robustly implemented to prevent recurrence;
  • To manage internal meetings and communication to ensure key personnel are aware of what is required to meet the customer requests;
  • To co-ordinate projects, maintaining an overview and awareness of all the deliverables;
  • Work with site leads to generate a monthly report on site performance, to the senior management team, within the allotted time scale;
  • Perform other tasks and/or additional duties within your skill and competence as and when directed, required or deemed necessary;
  • Comply with all policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment is maintained.
  • Abide by the company’s environmental and quality management procedures.
  • Carry out any reasonable duties we request that are within your abilities, irrespective of grade/skill level.

Logistics:

  • Manage all inbound and outbound logistics, including transport, with the warehouse supervisor and liaising with providers to ensure right service levels at the right cost;
  • Assess and manage warehouse needs (inc. external storage) in line with seasonality demand;
  • Monitor and review suppliers’ performance against agreed service levels and KPI’s;
  • Ensure stock turnover is in line with SLA’s and FIFO approach;

Planning & Materials:

  • Lead the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process to ensure a 1-12-month plan is optimised and feasible;
  • Interface with the Planner and Production Managers to ensure the monthly capacity plans are achieved and that the Scheduling process is optimised by minimising the number of changeovers while achieving customer due/commit dates at the right cost levels;
  • Liaise with other sister sites to ensure contingency and swing volumes are live and proactively used;
  • Interface with maintenance, production and planning on planned service downtime to ensure due dates are not affected;
  • Ensure optimised material stock levels that minimise working capital but ensure availability of materials to service the production plan with no stock-outs;
  • Ensure continuity in supply and identify potential risks, implement preventative measures to maintain supply input;
  • To work with procurement in managing material stock levels in line with forecasted demand.

Customer Service:

  • Manage, with CS team leader, the sales forecasting process and its accuracy, to ensure monthly sales plans are achieved at the right cost levels and in line with business needs;
  • Manage, with CS team leader and production, latest order quantities, due dates and lead times. Assess the demand management process in terms of analysing Sales forecast with the need to make-to-stock (MTS) vs. make-to-order (MTO);
  • Manage order intake process and finished good stocks, to ensure service levels are achieved at the lowest possible operational cost. Also, manage prioritisation of orders with changing conditions ensuring demand and supply plan is always feasible.
